Just popping in to say hello.
I'm from the UK (south east corner) and getting on in age!
For those who may be interested, I write fantasy.
Look forward to getting to know you.

Welcome aboard.

My thanks to you all for your reception!
I do have a question - I've noticed quite a few chapters posted - but I've not seen any critiques. Do you normally only send comments - or is there a separate forum where these are posted?
Cheers

If you're reading Jamey's Fantasy novel, Hatch, that is a completed novel that he now has in the hands of an editor. It was critiqued during the original posting but we had asked him to repost the finished version so that we could read the finished version he's submitting. It was critiqued here a long time ago, chapter by chapter.
Normally we post our comments, critiques, in the same thread as the chapter. If you'll look at Nicole's and Beckarah's novels, you'll see what I mean. I can't remember now which is posted in fantasy and which in No Rules, Just Write.
I hope that clarifies it.

well, I had a mini-freak out and deleted all my chapters because some moron in another forum told me that he KNEW FOR A FACT that putting up chapters on these forums counts as publishing it and no publisher would ever so much as look at it after that. Which turned out to be completely not true; it's only true if you post stuff on public places, like livejournal or blogs or whatever. Ugh, nobody use writingforums.org. It's full of half-wits.

LOL. Poor Becka.
You know, you could repost all the chapters if you like.

that's true; I just thought it might look odd if I posted the chapters up after all the crits.

I'm not sure you'd have to do it at the end.. Let me look and I'll get back to you.

Bad news. Yep, you'll have to repost the chapters at the end of the comments. The functions on this forum are rather limited. I had hoped I could work some magic but ProBoards forgot to give me a magic wand.

Hi, Drake. I'm tempted to ask how Josh is, but since you're from across the pond I think the pop culture reference (and humor) would be missed.

Heck, I live here in the USofA and I have no idea what you're talking about. Who's Josh?

Okay, "pop culture" may have been generous, but when you have enough young'uns running around with the TV on twenty-four hours a day, it certainly seems that way. "Drake and Josh" was a teen sit-com on Nickelodeon about the zany antics of unlikely stepbrothers.

Sounds like fun, but I'd never heard of it before either.
For the record, I think the last time I watched Nickelodeon was when I somehow managed to get hooked on Fraggle Rock. OK, OK, I know, but the puppets were cute.

I admit it, I used to watch The Muppet Show, too.

I watched the Muppets when they had a prime time show. I loved those two old codgers in the balcony. Now I R 1 of them.
