Hi All, I'm new to this site, and am looking forward to sharing work and feedback with others. I've written an offbeat/quirky literary novel and now need to have others read it.
Here's the pitch: Hypercritical of American consumerism, materialism and corporatism, Jacqueline Kay Kennedy Kimeski has a mission: save the world before all is lost. After a prophetic dream involving suicidal doves and Salvador Dali, Jackie begins her own one-woman crusade. The novel, which begins as a letter to the President, recounts the events leading up to Jackie's own personal transformation, starting with moving out of her highly-sexed, tequila drinking grandmother's house to a final journey that takes her deep into the Idaho wilderness in search of her long lost Chippewa mother. It's a process of self-discovery Idahoan style with a troupe of off-the-wall characters ― including a Sasquatch-seeking redneck book publisher, a Zen cop, a sake-drinking Buddhist Priest, and Basque churn carriers. Written in the spirit of A Confederacy of Dunces or A Wild Sheep Chase, The Road to Enlightenment via Boise, Idaho will appeal to those who question the social, moral and economic climate of our time but who have a lot of fun in the process. It's a story for those who may feel like misfits in a world that appears to value material success and the ego above compassion and generosity, and for those who can laugh at themselves and their own contradictory behavior. If anyone's interested in exchanging chapters, please let me know. Look forward to hearing from you. Tausha
